Grandes Playas Corralejo

The Grandes Playas Corralejo are probably the most accessible and recommended beaches of Fuerteventura.

A paradisiacal beach in a sea of dunes

The beaches of Corralejo, known as “Grandes Playas Corralejo”, located in the northeast of Fuerteventura, are a true paradise where the desert meets the ocean. Some 3.5 kilometres of fine white sand called “jable”, naturally derived from the erosion of seashells over thousands and thousands of years, moulded by the wind into soft dunes, stretch out to kiss the turquoise waters of the Atlantic.

The sand, known as jable, comes from the natural erosion of seashells, giving these beaches a soft texture and natural exfoliating properties. The crystal clear, calm waters invite you to take a relaxing swim, while the panoramic views towards the islet of Lobos and the island of Lanzarote add a picturesque touch to the surroundings.

This natural environment, framed by the Natural Park of the Corralejo Dunes, the largest in the Canary Islands, offers a dreamlike landscape that invites enjoyment, relaxation and contemplation.

How to get to the beaches of Corralejo

Getting to these Corralejo beaches is easy. From the tourist centre of Corralejo, you can get there by car along the FV-1 road, which runs alongside the Natural Park of Corralejo Dunes.

Along this road, there are car parks on the sides that facilitate access to the different areas of the beach.

For those who prefer public transport, bus line 6 connects Puerto del Rosario with Corralejo, with stops close to the beaches. Also, for those who enjoy walking, it is possible to get there on foot from Corralejo, enjoying a pleasant coastal walk that allows you to appreciate the beauty of the surroundings before diving into the crystal-clear waters.

Corralitos and nudism

On these beaches, it is common to find “corralitos”, small circular stone walls built by visitors to shelter from the island’s characteristic wind.

These improvised shelters provide privacy and comfort, especially appreciated by those who practise nudism, an activity permitted in some areas of Corralejo’s beaches. The combination of open spaces and these cosy corners allows each visitor to enjoy the environment in their own way, in harmony with nature.
